A Little White Lie 2x5

Part Two

Busy doesn't tell any "little white lies" in the episode - she just outright lies. But since Troy is in this one, we have to have a color in the title.

In Troy's room, Busy and Troy are doing some awkward dancing to what is probably an original song called (duh) "Little White Lies."

Now the girls are in a restaurant and Amanda is exclaiming over a picture Troy gave Busy when Troy enters the scene. Amanda puts on her headphones and hears about a contest to get free U4EA tickets.

She drags Busy and Troy over to some payphones to help her. Troy tells them the answer to the trivia question. Busy doesn't want to dial the number for some reason so Amanda does it. Then Amanda doesn't want to talk for storyline reasons and shoves the phone at Busy. When Busy gets the question right, Amanda yells about how she and Busy are going to see U4EA while Troy and Busy look at each other sadly. It's a tough call, but even though Busy technically gave the answer to the question, she had the least to do with the winning of the contest and should bow out. But of course, that's not how it goes.

Busy calls Troy and asks if he wants to go to the concert with her, assuring him that Amanda will understand. The first of her flat out lies.

Amanda is doing chores to get herself ungrounded so she can go to the concert. I guess it's a little self-centered of her not to consider that Troy might want to go to the concert. The only one really not in the wrong here is Troy. Anyway, Busy pretends that she's been grounded too, because her dad found out about her and Troy. When Amanda asks how, Busy replies, "I don't know, he just did." Not a very good liar. I'm not even sure how this lie gets her off the hook. Of course Amanda is going to ask if she can have the other ticket. But then Busy comes up with another lie; she failed some sort of test question to qualify for the tickets. Like they would ask her some algebra question after she's already won. In the next scenes, Amanda unsuccessfully tries to buy tickets while Little White Lies plays in the background and Busy again assures Troy that Amanda is fine with her taking him.

Amanda's parents snipe at each other as she bugs her mother about the U4EA ticket. Phyllis is totally unsympathetic and even changes her mind about ungrounding Amanda after she's done all that work.

Cut to the Ramone house. Busy's mother has started taking a night school course. Nice continuation there from the previous episode where she says she wants a life for herself. Busy's father forbids her from going to the concert if there will be any boys along. Busy lies again and says she's going with Amanda.

Back at the restaurant, Busy tells Amanda she can't do anything with her because she's having family therapy (on a Saturday night). Then Troy comes in and ruins things by mentioning "the big night," which Busy again lamely recovers from by claiming he's talking about the therapy.

Busy is forced to include Frankie in the scheme, as he's going to the concert too and their mother wants to drive them both. In a rush of words, she explains the premise of the episode. Frankie agrees to take the bus if Busy will clean his room.

Amanda has painted a snake on her forehead to show her loyalty to U4EA. Her mom comes in and tells her that she's pulled some strings and has got the concert tickets after all. Amanda runs to the phone to call Busy, but her mom says she was expecting that the two of them would go together.

I don't know how big this U4EA concert is, but probably not too big for Amanda and Busy to run into each other, huh?

Busy makes some attempts to apologize and finally Amanda says she'll probably get over it eventually. I think this episode could've been less about the lies and more about how girls tend to forget their friends when they get a boyfriend.

Next episode: Busy makes racist comments while dating a black guy.
